Research

UCD is at the centre of an unparalleled connected health research infrastructure spanning activities from gathering, analysing and interpreting data, through the development of new knowledge and care models to implementing and evaluating change.  Our business and revenue modelling teams ensure sustainability of connected health solutions.

Connected Heath in UCD builds research teams and projects spanning a range of disciplines, diseases, geographies and funding streams.  We are always interested in talking to potential partners (Academic, industry, patient, clinician) about new projects or engaging in existing projects.  UCD is a European leader in Connected Health research and is experienced in managing Horizon2020 applications.

Our Connected Health research spectrum is underpinned by:

  • the massive data and knowledge engine that is the Insight data anlaytics research centre,
  • the industry-driven technology centre, Applied Research for Connected Health, ARCH;
  • the European Connected Health network , ENJECT; and
  • the recently established Ireland East hospital network with UCD at its academic/research core.

UCD offers access to a truly connected Connected Health Ecosystem with the following elements:

  • A wide range of industry partners – indigenous and multinational, start-ups and large companies, bringing with them a variety of technologies, platforms and data sources.
  • A network of clinicians accessed through the Ireland East Hospital Network.  Clinician champions within each member hospital and lead clinicians for each disease will matrix to identify the best possible clinical input.
  • Input from patients and patient groups through IPPOSI supporting structures and direct relationships with individual patient representative groups and online social networking platforms
  • An interdisciplinary network of engaged academics from UCD and partner universities.

This process is supported by a central management function providing funding expertise and project management expertise.  At its heart is a core research team that is both full time and multi-disciplinary.
